Scopus search results lists the documents, and if available, the references, patents, web, and selected sources found by your search request. Scopus results pages display when you run a Basic, Advanced, Cited By, or Reference search, view documents within a source, view alert or RSS results, and from My List and Saved List.

The following actions may also be available for search results. (Click a link for more information):


About Search Results

Your Scopus search is also run on Scopus references, the Web using Scirus search, and patent information. Each set of results is shown on a separate tab: Scopus, More, Web, Patents, or SelectedSources.

Note: Citation information for some records was derived from Scopus reference lists. For these records, limited functionality is available on Scopus. Non-Scopus citations display in gray text and are indicated by from references.

Viewing Documents

From search results, you can view documents in a variety of formats.

Tip: To view a document abstract on the results page, click the Show Abstract link.

The Show Abstract link is not available for non-Scopus documents, such as abstracts available on platforms external to Scopus or citations derived from Scopus references.

Creating a Citation Tracker

You can track how often documents in your search results have been cited using the Citation Tracker.

Note: You can include up to 5000 documents in a Citation Tracker. If you select more than 5000 documents only the first 5000 will be included in the Citation Tracker.

The Citation Tracker functionality is only available from the Scopus Results tab (and not the More, Web, Patent, and SelectedSources tabs).

  1. Specify the document(s) you want to include in the Citation Tracker by using the following selection options:
  2. Click citation tracker.

    The Citation Overview page will display.

    OR

    The Request Citation Tracker page will display. The Request Citation Tracker page displays if your Citation Tracker contains a large number of documents; will take a long time to process; or if JavaScript™ is disabled in your browser.

Adding Documents to a List

You can use the Add to list button to collect documents from your search results and place them in a temporary, separate list. The list of selected documents is then available for additional use within your Scopus session, allowing you to conduct additional searches and then pick and choose which documents you want to add to your list.

Note: The Add to list functionality is only available from the Scopus Results tab (and not the More, Web, Patent, and SelectedSources tabs).

Viewing Cited By Results

You can view a list of documents that have cited documents in your search results list.

  1. Specify the document(s) for which you want to see citing documents using the following selection options:
  2. Click Cited By. A Scopus results page listing the documents that have cited the selected documents will display.

    Tip: You can see the number of times a document has been cited by other documents in Scopus. Click the link to view the documents.

Viewing References

You can view the references of a document, or a selection of documents, in a results list. From the References results list, you can output the references in a variety of formats, view the references on Scopus (if available), and view how many times those documents have been cited on Scopus.

  1. Specify the document(s) whose references you want to view using the following selection options:
  2. Click References. A Scopus results page listing the references of the selected documents will display.

Downloading Documents

You can download PDF (Portable Document Format) versions of documents using the Scopus Document Download Manager. The Scopus Document Download Manager was developed in partnership with QUOSA™. More information about the Manager can be found in the Download Manager help.

  2. Click download. The Scopus Document Download Manager will open in a new browser window.

Saving a Search or Author Citation Alert

You can create a Search or Author Citation alert from your search results. The type of alert you can create depends on the type of search you conducted:

To create an alert, click Save as Alert. Either the Save a Search Alert page or the Add an Author Citation Alert page will display.

Navigating Scopus Results

Scopus results pages display the total number of documents found for your search at the top of the page. You can navigate to other results for your search using the Next, Previous, and Results List buttons buttons.

Note: The Next, Previous, and Results List buttons buttons will display only if there are additional pages.

A maximum of 200 results displays per page. (The default is 20). You can modify the number of results shown per page by changing the Display option at the bottom of the page.
