Refine Results Categories

Return to Refining Search Results

Refine Results displays at the top of your search, author, or affiliation results. It provides a categorized overview of your results. From Refine Results, you can limit your search to only include relevant results. For most categories, the number of times an entry is found displays next to the entry.

Refine Results

The following categories are available:

Scopus Tab, My List, Saved Lists

The following categories are displayed by default:

Source Title:  

The title of every source in your results.

Author Name:  

Every author name in your results.

Year:  

The publication years of your results.

Document Type:  

The type of document. For example, article.

Subject Area:  

The subject areas that apply to the documents found.

Note   

A document may belong to more than one subject area.

The following categories can be added to your Refine Results display if you have JavaScript™ enabled in your browser:

Keyword:  

The terms assigned to a document, including author keywords, index terms, trade names, and chemical names.

Language:  

The language in which a document was written.

Note   

A document may have more than one language associated with it.

Affiliation:  

The institutional or corporate address affiliated with a document's author.

Source Type:  

The type of publication. For example, a journal.

Author Results

Source Title:  

The title of every source in your results.

Affiliation:  

The name of the organization or department affiliated with an author.

City:  

The city affiliated with an author.

Country:  

The country affiliated with an author.

Subject Area:  

The subject areas that apply to the documents found.

Note   

A document may belong to more than one subject area.

Affiliation Results

City:  

The city affiliated with an organization.

Country:  

The country affiliated with an organization.

 

Web and SelectedSources Tabs

Content Source:  

The original source of the web result. For example, NASA technical reports or ArXiv: Los Alamos pre-prints.

Information Type:  

The type of record. For example, full text or scientist homepage.

Keywords:  

Common terms found in the first 100 results.

More Tab

Source Title:  

The title of every source in your results.

Author Name:  

Every author name in your results.

Year:  

The publication years of your results.

Patent Tab

Patent Office:  

The government office responsible for issuing the patent. For example, US Patent Office or European Patent Office.

Keywords:  

Common terms found in the first 100 results.
