When you click one of the Citations grid links on the Citation Overview page, the Citation Overview Results page appears. The Citation Overview Results page lists documents that cited a selected document over a specified period of time. See Search Results for more information about browsing through search results.
| Note | For Citation Overviews with more than 500 documents and that have self citations of selected authors or all authors excluded, column totals are not links. |
Citations links are listed by publication date range as follows:
Available date range selections are from the > current year to 1996.
| Note | > current year includes data with a publication date of the next year. It does not include documents from the current year. For example, if the current year is 2005, then >current year would find documents from 2006. |
Date Range Defaults:
The default start date is 2 years before the current year and > current year. For example, if the current year is 2005, then the overview would include documents from 2003, 2004, 2005, >2005.
The default end date is >current year. For example, >2005.
| Note | If your end date is > current year, no column will appear after your end date. |
To change the citation date range, select new dates in the Overview options box.
Listed below are examples of the available types of links:
Click a cell value link.
A Citation Overview Results page appears indicating how many times a selected document was cited in a particular year.
Click a column total link.
A Citation Overview Results page appears indicating the total times all selected documents were cited in the selected year.
| Note | For previous and next year column totals, the Citation Overview Results page indicates the total times all selected documents were cited for that year range. For example, for <2000, the Citation Overview Results page would display citations for all the available years prior to 2000. |
Click a row subtotal link.
A Citation Overview Results page appears indicating how many times a document was cited during the selected years.
Click the subtotal link.
A Citation Overview Results page appears indicating how many times all documents were cited in the selected years.
Click the total link.
A Citation Overview Results page appears indicating how many times all documents were cited in the available years.
