Requesting a Citation Tracker

You can track how often articles (for example from a particular author or journal) have been cited using the Citation Tracker.

When you generate a Citation Tracker, Scopus calculates the time needed to create the report. If your Citation Tracker contains a large number of documents, will take a long time to process, or if JavaScript™ is disabled in your browser, you'll see the Request Citation Tracker page.

From this page, you can generate a CSV (Comma Separated Values) version of the report. You can then download the CSV version and open it in Microsoft® Excel.

CSV Citation Trackers are available for 7 days after you generate them.

Note    You can include up to 5000 documents in a Citation Tracker. If you select more than 5000 documents only the first 5000 are included in the Citation Tracker.

To request a Citation Tracker in CSV format

  1. From a Scopus Results list, Make Author Selection, Author Details, or Source Information page, select the documents or authors that you want to include in the Citation Tracker.

  2. Click citation tracker to display the Citation Overview page.

The Request Citation Tracker page appears if your Citation Tracker contains a large number of documents, will take a long time to process, or if JavaScript™ is disabled in your browser.

  3. Enter the E-mail Address where you want to send the link to the Citation Tracker.

  4. In Date Range, select a starting and an ending year for your Citation Tracker.

  5. In E-mail Format, select either HTML or Text format for your e-mail.

  6. Click Send to generate the Citation Tracker.

When the Citation Tracker is ready, you'll recieve an e-mail.

Note   You can request a total of 5 citation trackers in one day.
  7. From the Citation Tracker e-mail, click the Citation Tracker link.

If you are not logged in to Scopus, you will be prompted to log in.

Note   If the report was generated more than 7 days ago, the Citation Tracker is no longer available and you'll need to generate the report again.
  8. In Scopus, click the Citation Tracker link.

At the window that appears, save or open your Citation Tracker.
